Quality Assurance Programme
New Zealand GAP is a quality assurance programme owned by Horticulture NZ. The programme encompasses a traceable, accountable system for the production of fruit, vegetables, olives and flowers from crop to customer.
The programme provides confidence to the customers for buying fresh produce through the assurance that best practices for the production, packaging and distribution of New Zealand fresh produceare in place. In addition it also ensures reduction on the risk of health, safety and environmental issues.
We provide you with strategic and technical support on NZ GAP certification matters. We partnerwith you to improve results in business performance, achieve efficient and consistent compliance, reduce risks and align management systems and strategies to achieve certification. | NEW ZEALAND GAP |
 New Zealand GAP was first launched by Vegfed in 1999 and is now owned by Horticulture NZ. The Programme is supported by all major New Zealand retailers and fresh produce wholesalers such as Progressive Enterprises, Foodstuffs, Turners & Growers and MG Marketing. Accreditation to the New Zealand GAP programme is sought by these as a requirement for continued market access.
New Zealand GAP is based on:
• Good Agricultural Practice (GAP)
• The seven principles of HACCP (Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points)
• Elements of ISO 9002
By meeting the standards required by the programme, New Zealand GAP Approved Suppliers are able to demonstrate to their customers that their products are of an acceptable quality, produced in a sustainable manner, and in the case of fruit and vegetables, safe to eat.
